National Football League is a professional American football league consisting of 32 teams. The founder of the NFL is George Halas, Founded on August 20, 1920. NFL is the largest and longest enduring professional football league in the United States. It is divided equally between the National Football Conference (NFC) and the American Football Conference (AFC).

The Michigan Panthers (4-6) meet the Pittsburgh Maulers (4-6) Saturday in North Division Semifinal game Saturday at Tom Benson Hall of Fame Stadium in Canton, Ohio. Kickoff is set for 8 p.m. ET (NBC/Peacock). Below, we analyze BetMGM Sportsbook’s lines around the Panthers vs. Maulers odds, and make our expert USFL picks, predictions and bets.

The Panthers snuck into the postseason with a 23-20 win over the Philadelphia Stars at Ford Field in Week 10. It was just the team’s 2nd win in the past 8 games, and Michigan is 2-6 against the spread (ATS) during the same span.

While Michigan’s offense has been slightly improved in the past 4 games, averaging 18.8 points per game (PPG), they were the league’s lowest scoring offense with 171 total points, or just 17.1 PPG.

The Maulers enter the postseason with a little more momentum, winning the past 2 games, while covering 3 in a row. That includes a 19-7 win over the Panthers in Week 9 at this very same venue, winning outright as a 1.5-point ‘dog as the Under (41.5) connected.

These teams also met at Ford Field in Week 5, with Pittsburgh coming away with a 23-7 win as a 3.5-point underdog while the Under (42) cashed.

Defense has been the name of the game for Pittsburgh lately, allowing a total of just 13 points in the past 2 games, while cashing the Under in 3 in a row.

Michigan had a solid start to the season, winning their first two road games. However, when they came home to Detroit, they ended up dropping four-straight games, pushing them, what seemed to be, out of postseason contention. Yet, a key win over the Generals, on the road in Week 7, followed up by the clutch 23-20 win last Sunday night at Ford Field, ending up with a 4-6 record, helping send the team to the playoffs for the first time.

The Maulers had a real rough start to the season, going 0-2 at the beginning, winning just one of their first four games of the season. They started to turn things around in the second half of the season, relying on a stout defense to win three of their last six games, also ending up at a 4-6 clip, holding opponents to single digits three times.

Where: Tom Benson Hall of Fame Stadium in Canton, Ohio.

TV: NBC.

Line: Maulers by 2½.

Game notes: It’s the event nearly 39 years in the making (and you thought the Lions made us wait for gratification?) as the Michigan Panthers return to the USFL playoffs. Granted, the league took a 37-year break, but still …

The Panthers will take on the Pittsburgh Maulers at 8 p.m. on NBC at Tom Benson Hall of Fame Stadium in Canton, Ohio. It’s the franchise’s first postseason game since it lost to the (now-defunct) Los Angeles Express — featuring quarterback Steve Young — on June 30, 1984. The Maulers may not feature any talent on Young’s level — he went on to a Hall of Fame career with the San Francisco 49ers of the NFL — but they had enough to sweep the Panthers in two games this season by a combined 42-14 score.

Those losses were part of a skid in which the Panthers lost six of seven, mostly thanks to a general fecklessness on offense. That led to a change at quarterback last week, with former Brown standout E.J. Perry making his first start, after signing with the Panthers just a couple weeks earlier. Perry wasn’t always stellar — the lack of familiarity with the playbook showed in a couple fumbles and blown RPO calls — but he gave the offense a boost with his legs, rumbling for 48 yards, including the eventual winning touchdown after initially fumbling the snap on a first-and-goal play from the 6.

But the true star last week was Marcus Simms, who consistently set the Panthers up with excellent field position with his 167 return yards and blocked a punt that was returned for a touchdown to get the Panthers back in the game. That effort earned him USFL Special Teams Player of the Week honors — the sixth time a Panther has won a weekly award this season..>_<..
