ABCD HOUSE
Named in Honor of John McKnight and Marsha Barnett

Current Resident: Bryce
John was a co-founder of the Asset-Based Community Development organization at Northwestern University, a movement that has impacted community transformation across the country and around the world. He was a longtime friend of the Chestnut Ridge community and a faithful member of the New Vision Village Advisory Board. His contributions, along with those of his wife Marsha, are woven into the fabric of the Village through their unwavering belief that every person has a gift to share.

Pender Place
Named in Honor of Pender United Methodist Church

Pender United Methodist Church of Fairfax, Virginia, began partnering with People’s Chapel Church in the Chestnut Ridge community in 1983. For more than 40 years, the church has faithfully provided incredible support, resources, and encouragement to help grow and sustain the mission.

The Friendship House
Named in Honor of Peoples Chapel Church

In 1959, Reverend Frank Peoples moved into the Chestnut Ridge community and began a ministry that would eventually become People’s Chapel Church. Throughout his life, he helped raise 14 foster children, and his home—known as Friendship House—welcomed people from all walks of life. Today, People’s Chapel Church remains the heart and anchor of New Vision Village, carrying forward Reverend Peoples’ legacy of compassion, community, and service.

Compassion House
Named in Honor of Rural Compassion

Current Resident: CJ
Reverend Steve Donaldson founded Rural Compassion to help small communities with big possibilities thrive across the country. Through recruiting mission teams, offering caring friendship, and providing financial and hands-on support, Rural Compassion has made a meaningful impact on the growth of New Vision Village. Their Appalachian staff, Ken and Jenna Combs, have also faithfully served on the New Vision board as neighbors, supporters, and dear friends to the community.

The Conductor's Cottage
Named in Honor of John and Kathy Prusa

Current Resident:
John—known affectionately as “The Mad Scientist”—and his wonderful wife Kathy, a science teacher, were founding members of New Vision. Their passion, expertise, and deep understanding of science and renewable energy helped shape the organization into what it is today. Through their vision and dedication, New Vision has gone on to create meaningful change in West Virginia and communities around the world.

This caring group of businessmen from Glen Ellyn, Illinois, pooled their resources and energy to support ministry projects they could personally visit and engage with. Beginning in 1984, the group contributed to a variety of efforts throughout the Chestnut Ridge community, leaving a lasting impact through both their generosity and the meaningful relationships they built along the way.
Semper Fi House
Named in Honor of Joseph Ellis Zaytoun

Robert Zaytoun has been a lifelong friend of the Chestnut Ridge community and, for decades, has faithfully supported the growth and development of the ministry in Barbour County. The Semper Fi House is dedicated in loving memory of his father, Joseph Ellis Zaytoun—a United States Marine veteran and a truly remarkable man remembered for his character, service, and compassion.
Koinonia House
Named in Honor of The Korean United Methodist Church of Koinonia

Current Resident:
The Korean United Methodist Church of Koinonia in Fairfax, Virginia began partnering with New Vision in May 2026 and has already played a meaningful role in launching special events and ministry opportunities centered around sharing Korean culture here in West Virginia. Through their generosity, fellowship, and heart for community, they have helped strengthen the relationships and cultural connections growing within the Village.
