In October 2024, New Vision Renewable Energy (NVRE) reached a major milestone with the dedication of the first four homes in the New Vision Boys Tiny House Village- a Christ-centered, community-based model designed to support young men aging out of foster care. Today, that vision continues to grow, with five young men now living in the Village and building new foundations for independence, stability, and purpose.
On April 22, 2026, following the 4th Annual Next Step Summit, attendees gathered to celebrate the next phase of progress: the dedication of three additional tiny homes. These homes- Meme’s House, The Bruised Camel House, and The Conductor’s Cottage- each carry a legacy of generosity, service, and deep commitment to Appalachian communities.
Meme’s House was named in honor of Twila Matlick, who, alongside her husband through Sunrise Construction, faithfully supported New Vision’s work with foster youth.
The Bruised Camel House honors Gordon E. Murphy of the Gordon E. Murphy Center for Change Studies, recognizing his lasting impact on communities across Appalachia.
The Conductor’s Cottage was dedicated to John and Kathy Prusa, longtime friends, advocates, and supporters of New Vision’s mission.
Family members of each honoree joined us on the Ridge to share stories, reflect on their loved ones’ lives, and receive this recognition on their behalf, making the moment both meaningful and deeply personal.
In addition to dedicating these homes, the Village also welcomed a new resident, who will be living in Meme’s House, another step forward in providing stable housing, mentorship, and opportunity for young men transitioning into adulthood.
With these additions, New Vision is now more than halfway toward completing the Boys Village, continuing to expand a model that integrates affordable housing, workforce development, and community support in rural Appalachia. Each home represents not just a structure, but a pathway toward independence and a future rooted in dignity and purpose.
